Hex Poseur sounds like a volcano ready to erupt... ‘Stunning’ is exactly what it says on the CD cover.’

About

My name is Hex Poseur.

I began writing under this pseudonym in late 2019, and first performed in 2021.

I was heavily inspired by PJ Harvey and her ‘one woman and a guitar’ style. My musical style was originally based on 70s Punk and Riot Grrrl, inspired by bands like X Ray Spex, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Elastica. ‘Poseur’ comes from the X Ray Spex song ‘I Am a Poseur’, which i chose due to often suffering from imposter syndrome.

I then leaned towards a more garage rock sound, taking influence from artists like Jack White, QOTSA and Nirvana, but also incorporate elements of metal and more experimental genres like trip-hop.

I currently perform as a three piece band…

Meet The Band...

Jacob Wakeling - Drums

I first met Jacob in 2020, when he auditioned with a broken hand and we have been performing together ever since.

He was originally inspired by the drumming style of Dave Grohl (Nirvana, QOTSA), but now draws influence from Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Tim Alexander (Primus). He blends technical drumming with an aggressive and powerful performance style, adding a whole new layer to the music.

Jacob’s style has had a major impact on my music and has become a signature part of the Hex sound.

Holly Osborne - Bass

I first met Holly during university where she recorded bass on my first EP in 2019, but she didn’t start performing with me until 2023.

Her playing style is largely influenced by gothic rock, for instance bassists like Patrician Morrison (Sisters of Mercy), Dave Vanian (The Damned) and Mikey Way (My Chemical Romance), which perfectly compliments the darker style of my music.

Her basslines are often melodic and theatrical, but incorporate more traditional punk elements with a heavy fuzz tone and fast rhythms played with a pick.
